First off, after my little contest I have to admit… yes, this is in my iTunes library (I’ve even got some HSM to go with) I’m well rounded people ;)
So months ago I came across these cute little sleep masks/pedicure sets and instantly thought- slumber party shoot! Well, life got in the way and it took me until just now to actually find some (adorable!!) little girls and actually plan out some semblance of a shoot. With our lovely, warm weather I decided to turn it into an outdoor sleep over concept and voila… this is what developed :)
Okay, I don’t know how charming I am but I have had almost 16,000 hits since i revamped my little ole blog :D Sooo, to have a little fun & say thanks to all of you that take the time to stop by and say ‘hi’, i wanted to run a contest! Since I started posting, I borrowed lyrics from some of my favorite songs to title posts/create a vibe. I want you guys to tell me what songs they are & who the artists are. (bonus points to whoever knows this post *hint* their album finally releases Tuesday :) ). The winner not only gets a little taste of what is in my iTunes library but a new 1GB iPod Shuffle and 4 autographed CD’s from my very favorite artists! (BIG thank you to Jason, Amy & Valeri!!!) K Mach: Okay, so my wife introduced me to your site and wonderful work tonight. She is, in my humble and non-biased opinion, the best portrait photographer in Fairbanks, Alaska. She looked at me and smiled to ask,"you want to win an Ipod?" Naturally, my response was "yes!" We sat down and immediately realized we were way out of our music league! It wasn't until ColdPlay and then Blind Melon that things started to get clear for us. But even then, we laughed and settled with the notion that we are not as musically "hip" as we thought. Then the competitive monster in me awoke and I had to figure out the answers! Google became my friend, and I spent my late night hours... not sleeping to prepare for another day with our 3 month old and her 2 and half year old brother... but instead googling each of your blog titles! I feel like I cheated, but who knows if these are even correct! hmmm… another one of my favorite artists. And me? I get to photograph them. Sometimes I feel like I must be tricking someone, fooling them… I mean, I get to not only meet these phenomenal people, but photograph them as well? How did I get so lucky?? I was visiting Jason the other night and he was talking about what he puts into his music- the soul, the heart, the feelings, every bit of himself he can and then more… and you feel it. In their presence, these musicians just give off a vibe of inspiration, heart, passion… everything the world needs more of. Being given the opportunity to try and capture that on film, well I don’t think I could ask for more.
And Valeri. She is beauty (obviously on the outside ; ) but on the inside it overflows. Her music pulls at my heart. I could listen to her on repeat for days. I got about 5 minutes to steal her away at her last show to grab a couple of headshots. Just enought to tide me over until we can do a full shoot ;) Click her link, buy her music, feel it, enjoy…

‘…and it was called yellow’. I love working with props, themes, etc in my shoots and color is a huge theme in my work (my galleries are all color coded). I have yet to tackle yellow though and had a couple of yellow pieces I’ve been wanting to use. Sooo… when I saw a picture of my client for my shoot last weekend I knew I had hit the jackpot. She was so cute and I knew she would work perfectly. AND, because I am sooo lucky with the clients I get, she totally agreed to appease me and do some shots for me & my yellow needs :) (and just cause her husband was equally as cute, I threw one in of him too!).. I’ll post their sneakpeek to their ‘real’ session in the next couple days…
