Triple 7, 777, I know I know… that’s all I talk about over here! I promise only one more post after this and then back to the regular deal ;)
I was really surprised & SO happy at the number of boys we were able to recruit for our talent. By and large, it is girls that make up most of my stylized shoots so when all the boys started coming in I was giddy! It also helped add to the variance we could offer in the set designs. We put a ton of work & thought into these sets but we also wanted them to be approachable and attainable for all the attendees. A great example of this is the boxing set below… the concept all started when I saw these adorable vintage boxing gloves beckoning me at an antique show. Add in a black eye, a wife beater & a couple found accessories and you have an adorable set that got our little models completely excited about being there. Keeping ideas like this in your arsenal is the perfect way to add a personalized approach to your shoots… have a family or little boy that is taking boxing lessons or loves stuff like WWE? Bring these and throw them on at the end of the shoot for a little play time (& a guarantee that you just became the kids’ favorite photographer- ;) haha).
My goal in every shoot I do is to bring imagination, play & FUN to the day. I mean come on… what is more kid friendly than that??
ah- little hearbreakers ;)

Triple 7 Shootout Set TWO!! I’m kinda prejudice when it comes to this one… my AMAZING clients flew all the way from Portland to model (& yeah, gotta say… I’ve trained them very, very well) ;) Not to mention that my freakin’ super talented friend Vanessa from butterflyspArks designed this set for us. Basically it comes down to a you-can’t-go-wrong-cuteness-overload type of set ;)
I also have to give a HUGE amount of thanks to Bobby at Vegas Vision Studios. See the glitter in this set? See how it flies around and makes sparkly goodness everywhere? Yeaaahh… let’s just say that Bobby and his team will remember our sparkly goodness for the rest of time (it will take that long to remove it all from the ENTIRE studio *gulp). The most accomodating, hospitable team ever…
Without further ado…

whew… What a weekend… WE DID IT!! Months of planning, building, shopping, organizing, emailing, researching… and Millie & I pulled it off. The 777 Kids Shootout is done & was a *dumdadum…success!! :) We had the most fantastic group of women (we sold out at 30!) come join us for a *VERY* full day of shooting 18 different little models. The only part I wish I could do over was sneaking in there to get more images for me! There was so much going on that I completely missed out on shooting a couple of our talent and only got a few minutes with all the others. From the images I’ve seen so far though, everyone else more than made up for it with some of the cutest images I’ve ever seen!! I am going to break up the day into a few different blog posts. Starting with one of my favorites- our hot air balloon set…
yes- we scored the cutest kids in Las Vegas ;)

I will definitely be having more give aways… just have to impatiently wait for my boxes to arrive back from Vegas and we can start playing again :)

BIG thank you to everyone that commented and got their friends to pop over. aaaand I have some good news… the giving is not done. I also have the other cream outfit on the right to give to someone!
I’ve been trying to think of a fun way to get people to submit their comment for a chance to win this second outfit. If you follow me you know that I love all things creative. So… to enter to win this second outfit- this one is a size 6 pant (cutest little lace lined pockets you can’t see here) & a size 7 top- just link your very favorite creative-design-style-artsyfartsy-type blog/website that you follow in your comment. Can’t wait to see all the fun stuff that inspires you!! I will announce the winner of this one next Thursday after I get back from WPPI.
Speaking of WPPI… if you are going to be in Vegas come visit me at the Blu happy hour on Monday at Tabu @MGM. Email them at info@bludomain.com to get on the VIP list ;) I would LOVE to meet you guys!! AND if you see me in Vegas at all, come up and say hi and give me your business card. I’ll be collecting them for another fun give away I’m doing when I get back! (yeah- you’re probably on to me… I have LOTS of kids clothes to give away after we are done with the 777 on Sunday) :)
OK… just cause I’m on a roll I’m gonna add one more give away to this post. If you haven’t seen this site, you need to check them out. AMAZING cause, great people, easy stuff to do to make a difference in this world. Sign up to get their newsletter, follow them on Twitter, be a Facebook fan- it will excite you and remind you to make the differences you’ve been wanting to make. Their latest mission came to me yesterday…
This week, find someone who’s in a place that you once were, and do something to help them out.
So that’s what I’m doing. Leave me a comment… I want to hear from those of you that are just now trying to figure out how to make the business side of it work. You’ve decided you want to make something out of this photography thing and now you need to figure out how to juggle family-other jobs-clients-LIFE. I am by no means a business expert but I do run a business and have (somewhat) figured out how to prioritize & make my business MINE. I’d love to talk to you for 30 minutes and see if I can help answer questions, talk about my experience, help you learn from my mistakes… just leave “HELP ME!” in your comment and I will randomly pick someone next Thursday.
And just cause I don’t have any pictures blog ready and cause I think we have rad sponsors and cause I think we have the cutest logo ever and cause we have ONE spot left… little eye candy ;)
Talk to you all next week!!

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!
So much fun in this post… a new opportunity for me and a little something-something for one of you!
I had an opportunity to meet up with the [Framed] crew this morning. They have just launched an amazing site that features photographers of every genre from all around to let aspiring and professional photographers inside the mind, working environment & shoots of these fabulous artists. I do NOT belong on the other side of the camera but- I have to say- Melissa and the B Roll Production Company were soooo easy to hang out with that I forgot that there were actually cameras filming! I will be sure to let you know when my episode airs but you should RSS them right now cause they have a crazy good line-up for you!
I decided to do my annual Valentine’s shoot with them today so when I started planning I (of course) called one of my favorite people to see if she had any styling collaboration ideas… I barely got the words out and Julie was all over it. She sent this ADORABLE kitty set from her ZozoBug line and this custom made Gracylu Original to top it off ! Perfection, eh? Yeah… makes my job pretty darn easy when all this is in front of me ;)
If you notice the processing is a bit different… that would be thanks to Jodi over at MCP Actions. I was lucky enough to be asked to play with her newest action set she is about to launch. I LOVE it… so much variety, easy to use & customize… and this particular action had ‘heart’ in the name and I just knew it would be perfect for a Valentine Day shoot! Be sure to keep an eye on her blog for the launch… you will want these ;)
OK… for those of you dedicated enough to read through all this I have a GIVE AWAY!! Scroll down to the bottom of this post for the chance to win a gorgeous outfit from Eden’s Bouquet (her clothes are EXQUISITE… perfect addition to any photographer or little girl’s wardrobe).
whew… and finally- the images! :)
k… so for long time blog readers you may recognize this shot-
I have the cute little beige outfit on the left set aside especially for you!! It is a size 6 and really must be seen in person to appreciate the intricacies and quality… gorgeous! aaaand… it is one lucky blog readers for FREE. All you have to do to enter is comment below and then pass this blog post on to a friend and ask them to comment saying you (have them use your name) sent them! Every commenter that does that will be entered to win. I will pick a random winner on Wednesday night! ooo- please be sure to put your email address in when you comment so that I can contact you!
Funny little side story… when I found out that I was due with my daughter on January 27th I decided then & there that I would NOT be having my little girl in January: the-Christmas-hangover-dark-gray-rainy-day-gloomiest-month-of-the-year and that I WOULD be having my little girl in February: the-pink-and-red-hearts-abound-full-of-love-kisses-&-hugs-month-of-the-year. And guess what? I held my girlie in for an extra 10 days. And yes- she is my Valentine’s girl- just as kissy-lovey-sweet as can be. Mind over matter… mind over matter ;)
Happy ♥ day!!
Renee Waters: Love Love Love Love!! What more can I say! :) I better get some people to love you too, That size 6 is perfection! (02.13.2011 04:44am)
