Every now and then I will throw a roll of film in one of my cameras (grabbed the Holga this go around) and use that for a shoot. The kids like it cause, hey- 12 shots and they are done. And I like it cause, well… 12 shots and I am done ;) Not to mention the gettin’-a-present excitement that comes when you get that white envelope back and you get to see whether you totally nailed it or totally wiped out. Love it.
I also got my dates set for my next round of travel sessions. I will be in L.A., Palm Springs, Phoenix & White Sands the third week of October (& all the places in between, of course) and I still have TWO session openings available. I hope everyone is enjoying our last month of summer. I know we are savoring every bit! There’s been lots going on over here… Spring line lookbooks, Fall ads, a portrait session here and there. On today’s line up- new sessions, travel and one of my favorite designers!
My schedule will be changing up quite a bit once Fall hits so I have redone some things over here… I will be opening up more time slots for smaller jobs (portrait sessions) and less time for big ones (workshops/mentoring). In light of that, I have added a new session to the repertoire. I am really excited about this one as it is exactly what I LOVE to do. It is a shorter session, only one or two kids and gives you everything in one nice bundle. The ‘Devoted Session‘ has been on the hidden menu for a bit now and I have found it has been perfect- we finish while the kids are still excited and having fun (never hear “Are we done yet??”) but I still have plenty of time to get a great variety of shots for me and mom ;) I have also found this session is the perfect length to be able to squeeze into my schedule when I am on the road and visiting your city! Speaking of…
I will be traveling through Southern California, Arizona and New Mexico in October and have several must shoot spots that I would love to set up sessions in if you have kiddos you would like photographed. My Chicago trip also brought us a day in Cincinnati. We got to have dinner with the lovely Jessica and her sweet family (You’ll see me soon over at The Define School!) and then I spent the whole next day with Gina and an incredibly talented group of ladies at my last scheduled workshop (woohoo!!) I also got to finally meet Juliet (the talent behind all the lovely hair accessories I use- Maya’s Curls. She OUTDID herself this time!) You would think that would be all the goodness I could take but nope… I got to get these girls in front of my camera too ;)

I just got back from Chicago… spent the days melting at Navy Pier & cooling off at water parks and Lake Michigan (I never expected such beautiful beaches). We even caught a game (& an unexpected outdoor shower) at Wrigley. I was able to squeeze in two commercial shoots with new brands that I am very excited to share (soon!) and last, but definitely not least, I enjoyed the company of 15 amazing woman at a workshop hosted by Gina (thank you SO much!!). We had such a great group of diversely talented women, provoking conversion, deep dish pizza (yum!!) and three cuties all decked out in Maggie Bogart and Peppercorn Kids. Pretty much a perfect way to spend a few days in a new city :)

Our lovely friends, the Solars, came and stayed with us during their epic month long road trip around the US. I have talked about the Solars and their amazing labor of love, The Happy Family Movement, quite a few times on here (and if you haven’t checked it out- their Road Trip in a Box and Adventure Guides are MUST HAVES). What I haven’t done is had the opportunity to do a session with them. I just so happened to have an adorable dress from Maggie Bogart and a box full of new accessories from Peppercorn Kids (can’t wait to share ALL the goodness in upcoming sessions!) so what is a girl to do when there are two cuter than cute little girls under foot? Yep… impromptu backyard photo sessions :)
